2027 Membership FAQs

Like many businesses, Outer Banks Sports Club has experienced rising costs for staffing, utilities, insurance, equipment, maintenance, and facility operations.

We’ve worked to absorb these increasing expenses while continuing to improve the club. Recent investments include new treadmills, cardio and strength equipment, interior improvements, and ongoing facility upgrades.

Our goal is to continue providing a clean, well-maintained, full-service gym with quality equipment, complimentary towels, showers, saunas, and expanded operating hours.

Effective January 1, 2027, the updated rates will apply to new memberships, new contracts, and renewals. Existing members will keep their current rate until their contract expires. Previous monthly rates will not be grandfathered beyond the current contract term.

The preferred rate is available to qualifying:

• Local high school students and college students
• Government employees (local, state, and federal)
• Teachers
• Military personnel
• Police officers, firefighters, and EMS personnel
• Seniors ages 60 and older

Proof of eligibility is required.

The primary family member pays $70 per month, and each additional eligible family member pays $55 per month.

Family memberships are available to spouses and qualifying dependent children through age 22 within the same household.

Family members temporarily living away from home may qualify if they remain eligible dependents.

Unrelated roommates, friends, and unmarried significant others are not eligible for family pricing. Family rates cannot be combined with already-discounted preferred memberships.

The primary account holder must be physically present when enrolling or adding family members. Proof of eligibility is required.

Not necessarily.

For example, if you and your spouse currently each pay $55 per month, your combined membership is $110. Under the new family membership, your combined monthly rate would be $125.

That’s an increase of $15 total per month, or $7.50 per person, rather than $15 each.

Actual increases depend on your current membership rates and eligibility.

Yes. Beginning January 1, 2027, the one-time joining fee for first-time new members is $55, previously $45.

Existing and returning members do not pay a joining fee.

Yes. The annual paid-in-full membership rate for 2027 is $700.

Beginning January 1, 2027:

These changes provide approximately 212 additional hours of gym access annually.

We’ve continued investing in our facility and equipment, including:

• New treadmills and cardio bikes
• Additional strength training equipment
• Interior painting and refreshed spaces
• Ongoing equipment maintenance and upholstery repairs
• Continued facility improvements, including the locker room areas

Additional improvements are planned as we move forward.

OBSC is a full-service gym offering extensive strength and cardio equipment, complimentary workout and hand towels, shower towel service, showers, and saunas.

Year-round members also receive 10% off regularly priced OBSC merchandise. Sale items are excluded.

The minimum membership age is 12.

• Ages 12–13: adult supervision is required.
• Ages 14–17: members may work out independently with signed parental or guardian consent.
• Every minor must have their own membership.

Existing members do not need to rejoin or pay another joining fee.

Your current contract rate remains in place until the contract expires. Updated rates apply when you renew or begin a new contract. Please contact the front desk with questions about your individual membership or billing arrangements.
